Learning Through Remodeling

Since I can't find a stinking job in
Utah, I decided to come home for
a little bit to see if my parents could
keep me busy. A month ago my parents
started remodeling the house. We got the
walls retextured, new carpet, new countertops
and wood floors. When I fist came home I didn't
even have a bed. I slept on 3 memory foams. It
wasn't  too bad, but I was really happy when
I got my bed back.

At one point we had no countertops, sink or stove.
The granite people put boards on the cabinets for a
little bit. Not for our convenience, just to measure.

We didn't have carpet in certain sports for a long time.
You had to wear your shoes, or be extremely careful
where you stepped.

Since we were having wood floor being put in
the kitchen, the refrigerator couldn't be in there.
It had to take some getting use to in this spot.

All this construction was a good learning experience
for me.  We forget how lucky and blessed we are
to have all of these things. Some people live with
dirt floors, have no counter tops, stoves, sinks,
refrigerators, beds ect. Once they (kind of) get
taken away from you, you realize how blessed
you are to have them. I was grateful for this
reminder even if it was annoying at times.

1/2 of 2011

Can you believe it is June already?
2011 is half way over!
It just boggles my mind how fast time goes.
For the past month I have been job searching
and bored out of my mind. It's near to
impossible to get a job here in Utah.
Dang college kids. :) I am hoping something
will turn up soon. If not it's back home
"slapping bologna on bread".

Yesterday I got my first ever library card!

I thought I better get once since I want to read
12 books this year. I was grateful that my aunt
took me and helped me get one. It wasn't that
hard, but I didn't want to go into that big
building all by my lonesome. I am really excited
to read some good books. Any suggestions on
what I should read?

For the next year....

I have always admired people who had
bucket lists. I never really thought
of making on until recently. I suppose
I thought bucket lists had to be big things
like, "climb to the top on Mt. Everest", or
"pull a bus with only my teeth". Okay,
maybe not that big, but you get my point.

So, I have been thinking, what if I just made
a "bucket list" of things I want to do in a year-
even if they are small silly things or things I have
done before. So it is kind of like a bucket list,
but kind of not because I have done some
of them before. As I accomplish the items
on my "bucket list" I will blog  about the
experience I had, and cross it off my list!

  1. Go to a drive-in movie*
  2. Watch a TV series from the first episode to the last*
  3. Write a note to someone telling them how much they mean to me*
  4. Go a whole day without my phone, computer or T.V.
  5. Write on my blog everyday for two weeks*
  6. Run 2 miles without stopping*
  7. Bake a homemade cake all by myself (no box cake)
  8. Take a picture a day for a month strait*
  9. Have a picnic
  10. Shoot a gun
  11. Have a movie night where I only watch classic movies*
  12. Make a new friend
  13. Go to a concert
  14. Go hiking
  15. Face my fears and ride a roller-coaster
  16. Go on a road trip with my friends
  17. Eat at 12 new restaurants (one a month)*
  18. Tie-dye something
  19. Go to a hot springs*
  20. Go to a museum
  21. Make someone dinner
  22. Drive or ride on the back of a moped*
  23. Grow a plant and keep it alive*
  24. Loose 5-10 lbs
  25. Make a gift for someone
  26. Sell something on E-bay*
  27. Read 12 books (one a month)*
 * = Haven't done before

My list is still a work in progress and I might change a
little bit. I might add some new ones that I think of, or
take one off that doesn't really interest me anymore.
If any of you want to help/do them with me, then I
would love that! (Ex. hold my hand on the roller-coaster,
or have a gun and teach me how to shoot).

I am currently working on a real Bucket list. Maybe I'll
post it someday when it's finished.

The Party

I had a combined  birthday party with
one of my good friends, Natalie, a week
ago. We wanted to do something a
little different-besides just having a
pizza party. It was a tough decision for
us, but we decided to make breakfast-
 pancakes, sausage, bacon, and eggs.

(Natalie and Aunt Linda cooking away)

We thought an hour before the party
would give us plenty of time to prepare and
make everything . I don't know what we
were thinking. People started showing
up and we were running around like crazy
trying to get things ready. It actually
 turned out pretty good though.
People started helping, and I would
like to think they had fun doing it.
After it was all ready, it was time to sit
down and eat.

My aunt was so very kind to make
cupcakes for us. They were absolutely
 delicious! like always :)

(Natalie, me, kristy)

( natalie made the birthday sign :) )

I think the party was a success!
It has been a long time since I
have felt that way. I usually feel
like my parties are super boring
and no one has fun. I always felt
 like a failure. Not anymore!..
well I can hope anyways!

It's True, I'm 22

Yesterday was my birthday!
It was a pretty good one too.
Honestly, It didn't really feel like my
birthday. It could be because I have
never had a birthday away from home, or
maybe it just came too soon.

I started my day by waking up and going to
class. After class I was hungry so I went to
Jimmy Johns to grab a sandwich.
(only the best for your birthday)

Then I went up to my room, took a nap and
watches some episodes of Psych. Before
I went out to dinner with some of my girl
friends, I skped my parents and opened
my presents!

I got some awesome stuff including a boyfriend!

Thats right. He is "the ultimate boyfriend" that
"always knows the right thing to say!"
Thanks to my awesome cousin, Hillarie, for
giving him to me.

It was a tough decision, but I decided to eat at
the Macaroni Grill. We had some yummy
italian food, and I even got sung happy
birthday in Italian(too bad he was married).
The cake he gave me was absolutely delicious,
and extremely chocolaty. I shared, but
I ended up eating most of it myself.

(22)

After dinner we went to the River Woods
to go to the toy store. We had fun looking
at all the toys and we even took pictures
in a photo boot. It was fun!

I love these girls! They are the best.
Thank you so much for the
night out! It meant so much to me!

Small Break

This past week I went home for a
little visit before summer school starts.
It was such a nice relaxing time with friends
and family.
I got to see my cute nephew and niece.
(Alani not pictured :(   )

Had a early birthday party with my family.

(birthday kisses)

Held puppies that were only a couple days old.

Got my hair done by my talented and amazing
sister. It's a little more brown now.

And finish a quilt I have been working
on since 2009.

This quilt is very special to me. I call it my
grandma quilt because it has a little of
both grandma's in it. It have some of
my grandma Duncan's fabric in it, and it
is my grandma Culler's design/layout
(whatever you call it.)
I will always treasure this quilt!

Green Toes

Aren't my green sparkly toes fun?

I am home visiting for a short week.
It is going way to fast. I still have a few days
left here, but I am not ready to go back.
I am enjoying being around my family and
not having any homework. Too bad that is
going to end when I go back to Utah.
Maybe Summer school will be fun?
Guess there is only one way to find out.
I'm pretty sure I know the answer though.
